The timing of the festival takes place during the February to March.

Shiva Origin

Maha Shivaratri is considered as the day of the origin of the Supreme Lord Shiva. Some religious script claims the celebration of the Lord marriage.

How is it Celebrated?

It is celebrated by prolong fasting in the night and offering to the lord on the next day.

Usually, the Hindu women fasts in the hope of prolonging the life of the husband. The girl fasts during this festival in order to get the amenable husband.

Thousands of the Hindu Baba of varied sect including the Aghori Baba visit in the Pashupatinath temple during the Maha Shivaratri festivals. Depending on the sects this baba follows their own ritual.

These Baba are found different places of Nepal as well as from the rest of the world primarily from India.

Performance of Baba

The baba performs various weird acts in order to collect the alms. The performance in primary done by the Nanga Baba or Necked Baba.

Thousands of the people visit the Pashupatinath to have the glimpse of the weird activities of Baba.

Smoking Baba

Despite the ban in the weed in Nepal. The baba during the Maha Shivaratri seems to enjoy the weed in carefree attitudes.

Majority of the baba sell the weed to local during the festival. This is creating a series of problems at this festival.

In the prime day of the Shivaratri majority of the individuals seems to smoke the weed in carefree ways. Further, the intoxicating milk candies are rife in this festival.
